Well, I mentioned that I would begin blogging in June but I just couldn’t wait any longer so here it is, a little early!
On May 16th, 2015, KLG was a part of the Pursuit 1 v 1 tournament that took place in Washington, DC. The focus of this tournament was to get players to be creative and strategic at scoring more goals than their opponents during a three minute match, in a limited amount of space. We were very happy to be a sponsor for this tournament and to award the winners of age groups 8-12 with some cool “swag”. Working with Pursuit Sports Group and Yael Averbuch has been a true pleasure.
The 1v1 tournament feeds right into our theme for June which is drills for “1v1” training. We will be posting some commentary and suggested age appropriate drills from New England Revolution coach Tommy Soehn. As a U11 girls coach myself, I am reminded daily of the importance of developing the girls 1v1 skills and the confidence it takes to “actually” do this in game situations. Our goal is to provide drills along with positive feedback to the girls so they will try this in games and remind them that the move may not work everytime but at least you tried!!
KLG will continue to support and sponsor events that promote youth soccer development. If you have upcoming events, feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Until June….as always, we are grateful for your support!
